Dance Casa from Ukraine to Budapest It’s a story of passion, resilience, and a community that refused to stop dancing even in the hardest times.
Humble Beginnings: A Simple Weekend
We started small. Our very first event was a simple, one day gathering just two instructors, a few local dance shows, and a friend who sang at our regular events. At that time, we didn’t have a team; it was just three friends, Ruben Ruiz, Nino, and Anass each managing their own events but supporting one another.
The idea was born from Ruben Ruiz, with Nino and Anass helping to bring it to life. Once we experienced the thrill of creating something bigger than ourselves, beyond the weekly parties we used to host, there was no turning back.
That first step ignited the journey that would eventually grow into Dance Casa, a festival celebrated by dancers from around the world.
Elevating Dancers and Building a Community
The first Dance Casa was created to raise the level of our dancers. We decided to bring together the most promising talents from Kyiv and give new dancers a chance to shine on stage.
All of this was managed through EventWay, a project created by Nino to organize weekly dance parties.
From the very beginning, people began saying our events “hit different.” Even with 100–200 dancers at each party, the atmosphere felt like home everyone knew each other, and everyone was warm and welcoming.
That strong sense of connection, community, and family is what inspired the name Dance Casa, a festival where dancers from all over the world truly feel at home.
From Local Events to National Recognition
A year after hosting our first event, we felt confident enough to return to SBK, especially for our anniversary.
While the competition among dance organizers in Ukraine was fierce, there was mutual respect for each other’s work.
Dance Casa became more than just an event it became our anniversary celebration, a gathering that united dancers from every corner of Ukraine who believed in our vision and in EventWay, our homegrown Ukrainian brand.
Challenges Amidst Adversity: The War in Ukraine
Year after year, Dance Casa grew. We welcomed international instructors, expanded our horizons, and carried the dream forward. But then came the war the invasion of Ukraine by Russia. Our April edition was canceled, and for a moment, it felt like the music had stopped. With emotions running high, we debated whether to drop everything and serve to protect our home, or find ways to help in other ways. We began by assisting people to leave the country, then helping them find work and housing across Europe through our contacts.
Relocating to Budapest and Preparing for a Comeback
Eventually, we found ourselves stuck in Budapest, unable to return to Ukraine. Yet, the people in Budapest were always by our side, giving us the same feeling of belonging we had back home.
After a year, we decided it was time to relaunch Dance Casa.
What many didn’t know at that time was that Nino had been building the perfect team to manage everything, preparing for the day he could return and fight for the place he called home. However, before leaving, we faced several challenges from false claims to attacks on our reputation from people we trusted and helped so we had to clean house first, ensuring everything was in order before moving forward.
Growth and Resilience of the Dance Casa Community
Through every challenge, the Dance Casa family never stopped growing.
With each event, trust in us strengthened, and so did our responsibility to give back even more to our community.
After completing preparations for the 2024 edition, Nino entrusted the team to manage the festival in his absence, giving them full control of his creation his “child” while he returned to defend the place he called home.
The Dance Casa team worked tirelessly to maintain the high standards that we promise our dancers, and once again, the festival was a resounding success.
Dance Casa Festival 2025: Bold Move
In 2025, Dance Casa took a bold leap forward
live music, official certifications, and our biggest lineup yet. Many thought we had reached our peak, but they didn’t see the challenges we overcame.
Even with friends and organizers supporting the festival in Nino’s absence, we knew something was still missing. The edition was a success, yes but it reminded us that true growth never stops. Our journey continues, and the best is still ahead.
